Tina Piper appointed Acting Dean
We are pleased to announce that Associate Dean (Academic) Tina Piper has been appointed Acting Dean for the Faculty of Law, following the appointment of Justice Robert Leckey to the Superior Court of Quebec.

Dean Robert Leckey appointed a judge of the Superior Court of Quebec
With mixed feelings, the Faculty of Law extends its sincerest congratulations to the Hon. Robert Leckey on his appointment to the Superior Court of Quebec, District of Montreal. His appointment, effective immediately, was announced by the Honourable Arif Virani, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, on 27 January 2025. Justice Leckey replaces Justice Christian Immer, BCL’91, LLB’91, who has been elevated to the Court of Appeal of Quebec.

Prestigious chairs renewed for two colleagues
The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce the reappointment of Professor Allison Christians as holder of the H. Heward Stikeman Chair in Taxation Law, and Professor Marie Manikis as William Dawson Scholar. Their appointments have been renewed for seven and five years, respectively.

The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce it was once again ranked as one of the world’s top universities at which to study law. The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings placed º«¹úÂãÎè 33rd worldwide.  Ìý
Since the law ranking was introduced in 2017, º«¹úÂãÎè has consistently featured in the global top 35. This year, 389 law schools around the world were ranked.  Ìý

New phase of Chancellor Day Hall modernization begins: construction work to come in 2025

Rosalie Jukier named Sir William C. Macdonald Chair

Established in 1895, the Macdonald Chairs are among the oldest endowed positions at º«¹úÂãÎè.

Adelle Blackett appointed Senior Advisor to the Director-General at UN’s International Labour Organization

Pierre-Gabriel Jobin awarded CBA’s Crépeau Medal
The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce that the Quebec Division of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA-Quebec) has awarded its Paul-André-Crépeau Medal to Wainwright Professor Emeritus of Civil Law Pierre-Gabriel Jobin, Ad E. The medal was presented to him by Jonathan Pierre-Étienne, president of the CBA-Quebec, on 5 December, after an introduction by Dean Robert Leckey, Ad E.

Alicia Hinarejos awarded European Commission’s Jean Monnet Chair
The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce that Professor Alicia Hinarejos has been awarded a Jean Monnet Chair in European Union Law. Her three-year appointment began on 1 September 2024.

Lara Khoury named Canada Research Chair
The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce that Professor Lara Khoury, Ad E, has been named Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Liability, Health Governance, and Social Change. The appointment is for a seven-year term.

Jérémy Boulanger-Bonnelly wins best paper award
The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce that Professor Jérémy Boulanger-Bonnelly has won the Best Scholarly Paper award in the annual legal writing competition by the Fondation du Barreau du Québec. He was honoured for his article titled "Actions collectives et tribunaux administratifs : un vide juridictionnel à combler" (º«¹úÂãÎè Law Journal, 2022).

Rosalie Jukier receives King Charles III Coronation Medal
The Faculty of Law is delighted to share that Professor Rosalie Jukier was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal. She was presented with the award by the Hon. Marc Gold, PC, Government Representative in the Senate, at a ceremony held on 27 October.
