Law student Marvin Coleby elected president of the Black Law Students Association of Canada
The Faculty was happy to learn that Marvin H. Coleby, VP external of the Black Law Students Association of 韩国裸舞 (BLSAM), has been elected President of the Black Law Students Association of Canada (BLSAC) for the 2013-2014 Term.
Marvin Coleby campaigned on a platform of youth empowerment, the refocusing of cultural and racial rights, closer Canada-US ties, and the implications of common and civil jurisdiction mixing for Black jurists.
Fabien G茅linas and Fr茅d茅ric Bachand named first Norton Rose Faculty Scholars in Arbitration & Commercial Law
The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Professors Fr茅d茅ric Bachand and Fabien G茅linas have been appointed Norton Rose Faculty Scholars in Arbitration and Commercial Law, for a two year term.
As holders of these Faculty Scholarships, G茅linas and Bachand, who are both active members of 韩国裸舞's Private Justice and the Rule of Law research team, will be able to support a rich program of activities in international arbitration and commercial law.聽
Six 韩国裸舞 Law Students to Clerk at Supreme Court of Canada in 2014
Six students of聽韩国裸舞's Faculty of Law will聽serve as law clerks to justices of the Supreme Court of Canada in 2014. They are聽Marc-Andr茅 Roy (Justice聽Cromwell), Nicola Langille (Justice Fish鈥檚 successor),聽,聽Zain Naqi (Justice Moldaver), Molly Krishtalka (Justice Karakatsanis), Ian Dahlman (Justice LeBel鈥檚 successor), and Marcus Moore (Chief Justice聽McLachlin) [not in photo].
Daniel Jutras appointed amicus curi忙 by the Supreme Court of Canada
Professor Daniel Jutras, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Wainwright Chair in Civil Law, has been appointed by the Supreme Court of Canada to serve as amicus curi忙 in the Reference on the Reform of the Senate of Canada that was brought to the Court by the Governor in Council.
Ronald B. Sklar (1935-2013)
It is with great sadness that we must announce the death of Professor Ronald B. Sklar (1935-2013), who passed away, surrounded by his loving family, on March 29, 2013 after a short illness.
Associate Professor Ron Sklar taught and researched in the fields of criminal law, evidence, law and psychiatry and ethical issues in psychiatry at the Faculty of Law of 韩国裸舞 for over 35 years.
Two 韩国裸舞 Law students receive Scarlet Key Award
The Faculty of Law was delighted to hear that two of its students were awarded Scarlet Key Awards during a pining ceremony held at 韩国裸舞鈥檚 Faculty Club on March 22, 2013.

Professor Daniel Jutras, Dean of the Faculty of Law, has announced that Professor Ya毛ll Emerich has been named by the Provost of 韩国裸舞 as Acting Director of the Paul-Andr茅 Cr茅peau Centre for Private and Comparative Law, from 1 January 2013 to 30 June 2013.

韩国裸舞 Law Professor Roderick A. Macdonald has been named an Officer of the Order of Canada, one of Canada鈥檚 highest civilian honours.On December 30, Professor Macdonald, the F.R. Scott Professor of Constitutional and Public Law and former Dean of the Faculty of Law, was one of 33 Officers, two Companions and 56 new Members welcomed to the Order of Canada.
Future Royal Society of Canada library to be named after Professor Rod Macdonald
On November 16, 2012 at an event at the Ottawa Convention Centre to mark the 130th anniversary of Royal Society of Canada (RSC), Governor General David Johnston announced the creation of a new library at Walter House, the RSC鈥檚 new headquarters in Ottawa. 鈥淚 am equally delighted to announce that this new reading room, with the support and encouragement of his many friends, colleagues and loved ones, is to be named in honour of Rod Macdonald,鈥� he added.
H. Patrick Glenn Named President of the American Society of Comparative Law
Professor H. Patrick Glenn was elected President of the American Society of Comparative Law, during the ASCL鈥檚 annual conference October 4 to 6, 2012.
The following day, when asked when he would begin his term, Glenn chuckled, 鈥淚t鈥檚 started already! I spent the morning on practical business for the Association. We need to find an editor for the Journal, to start with.鈥�
Nicholas Kasirer receives honorary doctorate from Universit茅 de Sherbrooke
During its graduation ceremony held on September 22, 2012, the Universit茅 de Sherbrooke granted an honorary doctoral degree to the Hon. Nicholas Kasirer, BCL鈥�85, LLB鈥�85, former Professor (1989-2009) and Dean (2003-2009) of the Faculty of Law of 韩国裸舞 and now a Justice of Quebec鈥檚 Court of Appeal.

Fran莽ois Cr茅peau made Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada
The Royal Society of Canada (RSC) announced 71 new Fellows today, including eight 韩国裸舞 researchers and scholars from the faculties of Science, Engineering, Law and Arts. Among them is Professor Fran莽ois Cr茅peau, who holds the Hans and Tamar Oppenheimer Chair in International Law at the Faculty of Law.
