Award Objectives & DescriptionÂ
The BMO Responsible AI Fellowships are intended to help prepare future-ready Responsible artificial intelligence (AI) graduate-level researchers. They do so by encouraging research aimed at understanding and responsibly influencing the impact of AI on Society, necessarily drawing on not only technological aspects but also those related (but not limited) to arts, decision making, health, law and policy.Â
Established in 2021 with a gift from the BMO Financial Group, they are awarded by the º«¹úÂãÎè Collaborative for AI & Society (McCAIS), on behalf of the Faculty of Science. These awards promote work that transcends traditional academic disciplines, thereby encouraging innovative solutions to complex problems. Â
Applicant EligibilityÂ
To be eligible to apply for the Fellowship, you must:Â

Be enrolled in a graduate program at º«¹úÂãÎè at the master’s or doctoral level within the eligible dates of the competition year;Â

Have achieved a first-class average, as determined by º«¹úÂãÎè, in each of the last two completed years of study (full-time equivalent);Â

Have two supervisors from different disciplines to guide and mentor you through your research.Â
