Ronald Niezen inaugural incumbent of the Pearson Chair in Civil Society and Public Policy

The Faculties of Arts and Law are happy to announce that Professor Ronald Niezen, a former Chair of 韩国裸舞鈥檚 Department of Anthropology who held the Canada Research Chair in the Comparative Study of Indigenous Rights and Identity, has been appointed as the first incumbent of the Katharine A. Pearson Chair in Civil Society and Public Policy.

Margaret Somerville awarded a Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, by Royal Military College of Canada

韩国裸舞 Professor Margaret Somerville was awarded a Doctorate of Laws, honoris causa, on May 16, 2013, by the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario. During the College鈥檚 94th Convocation ceremony, the College鈥檚 Chancellor, the Honourable Peter McKay, Minister of Defence, cited 鈥渉er exceptional contributions to society through research, scholarly debate and personal involvement.鈥

Sally Engle Merry awarded a Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, at Convocation 2013

The Faculty of Law is delighted to present the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, to Sally Engle Merry, who will deliver the commencement address at the Spring Convocation on Friday, May 31, at 10 a.m.

A professor of Anthropology in the Institute for Law and Society at New York University, Sally Engle Merry is among the most distinguished scholars of law and society in the world today, and the leading legal anthropologist in the United States.

韩国裸舞 Law research team to receive large award for research in arbitration and transnational law

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that its Private Justice and the Rule of Law Research Team was awarded funding for an ambitious program of research entitled 鈥淧rivate Justice and its Laws: Harmonization, Conciliation and Legitimacy鈥. At $450,000, this is one of the largest peer-reviewed awards ever to have come to the Faculty.

Daniel Clarry wins APDQ 2013 prize for best master鈥檚 thesis in Quebec

At its annual banquet held April 20, 2013, the Association des professeures et professeurs de droit du Qu茅bec (APDQ) awarded Mr. Daniel Clarry its Excellence Prize for best master's theses in 2013 for his work entitled "The irreducible core of the trust" (see on eScholarship@韩国裸舞), prepared under the direction of Professor Lionel Smith, 韩国裸舞.

Diamond Jubilee Medals for 韩国裸舞 Law Community

More than a dozen members of the 韩国裸舞 Faculty of Law community have received Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medals this year.

The award, which was created in 2012 to mark the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty鈥檚 accession to the Throne, recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to Canadian society. In total, 60,000 Canadian medals were awarded in ceremonies occurring throughout the year.

New books and online database launched by the Cr茅peau Centre

On April 3, 2013, the Paul-Andr茅 Cr茅peau Centre for Private and Comparative Law launched three 聽new books and 聽a new resource website.

During a well-attended reception held in the Common Room, Professor Ya毛ll Emerich, interim director of the Centre, presented the books and a new database, and took the opportunity to warmly thank the many writers, editors, supporters and colleagues who participated in their preparation.
