Barbara Hannigan to speak with Schulich’s Voice Area

The award-winning Canadian soprano and conductor Barbara Hannigan is slated to virtually visit Schulich’s Voice Area! An artist at the forefront of creation, Hannigan is known for her performances of contemporary opera. She has shown a profound commitment to the music of our time and has performed premieres of over 85 new works.

Shawn Mativetsky’s new book RUDIMENTAAL

Prof.Shawn Mativetsky has released ’RUDIMENTAAL’, a collection of rudimental snare drum pieces inspired by the tabla drumming of North India. By bridging together two principal percussion instruments and their respective musical traditions, the book works as a gateway into North Indian drumming for drummers and percussionists from all backgrounds.

Choral Studies presents ReVoice

When announced that Fall 2020 activities will be offered predominantly through remote delivery, Schulich’s professors went to work preparing innovative new courses that would temporarily replace most large and small ensembles. Bo-rum Hammond and Jarred Dunn recognized in CFMTA National Essay Competition

A large congratulations to Bo-rum Hammond (current MMus) and Jarred Dunn (current DMus), who have won first and second prize respectively in the “University Graduate” category of the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Association (CFMTA)’s annual National Essay Competition! This competition invites submissions of essays on topics related to music teaching, pedagogy, or performance practice.
