Published: 28 January 2025

January 23rd, 2025 | In an interview on Let’s Go with Sabrina Marandola on CBC, Pearl Eliadis discussed the Supreme Court of Canada’s decision to hear a legal challenge against Quebec’s Bill 21. Eliadis emphasized the significance of the Court’s move, stating, “It’s the Supreme Court saying that it’s important and an issue of national significance.”

Eliadis explained that the case involves more than just the notwithstanding clause, noting that “there are questions about the way in which Quebec invoked the clause,” as well as broader issues stemming from previous court decisions across Canada. “This opens up an important dialogue in the country,” Eliadis remarked, as Canadians await the Court’s ruling on the complex legal and societal issues surrounding Bill 21.
