For the past seven years, the Canada Europe Transatlantic Dialogue (CETD) has been examining different aspects of the public dimensions of Canada – EU relations. This project, funded by the SSHRC, brings together Canadian scholars from seven universities with European scholars interested in this topic.

Colleen Sheppard named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada
Today, the Royal Society of Canada released its list of 89 new Fellows, among which is our own Colleen Sheppard, who has joined the Academy of Social Sciences.
Payam Akhavan named Member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration
In June 2016, Professor Payam Akhavan was appointed as a Member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in The Hague. Established in 1899, the PCA is an intergovernmental organization that provides dispute resolution services to the international community, and its appointed members are potential arbitrators named by member states.

Geneviève Saumier named as co-rapporteur of a Special Commission of the Hague Conference on Private International Law
In June 2016, the Hague Conference on Private International Law convened a Special Commission to prepare a draft Convention on the recognition and enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters.

Prof. Ram Jakhu reappointed to Space Council of World Economic Forum

Vrinda Narain appointed Associate Dean (Academic)
The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Professor Vrinda Narain has accepted the mandate of Associate Dean (Academic) in the Faculty of Law, for a three year term beginning September 1, 2016.
Professor Narain’s research and teaching focus on constitutional law, social diversity and feminist legal theory. She was a Boulton Fellow in 2007, before joining the Faculty of Law as an Assistant Professor in 2008. Â

Yaëll Emerich to head Crépeau Centre
The Faculty is pleased to annonce that Professor Yaëll Emerich has been appointed Director of the Paul-André Crépeau Centre for Private and Comparative Law. Her mandate begins on July 1, 2016.
