Black History Month aims to celebrate, honour, increase knowledge, and amplify the voices of Black communities by recognizing their rich history and achievements, fostering connection, and bringing together students, staff, and faculty, and alumni and members within and beyond the Montreal community.

Opening Ceremony and Keynote by architect Shane Laptiste

Tanna Schulich Hall, Elizabeth Wirth Music Building (527 Sherbrooke Street West, Montreal)

Principal and co-founder of the award-winning Studio of Contemporary Architecture (SOCA) and alumni, Laptiste focuses on how Black communities respond to space and the environment.

Please join us for a catered reception preceding the ceremony and keynote address from 5:00pm - 6:00pm.

Black Community Gathering

University Centre, 3rd Floor, Ballroom (3480 McTavish Street, Montreal)

As part of ’s 2025 Black History Month, this event brings together all Black students, staff, and faculty members to connect, celebrate and create community over a free, catered lunch.


is on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg nations. We acknowledge and thank the diverse Indigenous peoples whose presence marks this territory on which peoples of the world now gather.
