After undertaking post-doctoral studies at the German Cancer Research Centre (DKFZ), Dr. Riazalhosseini joined º«¹úÂãÎè Institute of Genomic Medicine as Group Head of the Cancer Genomics program in 2012. He also serves as an Associate Professor at the Department of Human Genetics. His principal activity has been to initiate and lead a multidisciplinary, applied research program on genomics of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) to understand the causes of kidney cancer with the goals of obtaining better preventions and treatments. His research program uses systems biology approaches that combine genomics datasets involving sequences from hundreds of cancers coupled with detailed clinical data, and high-throughput functional studies. His lab also develops OMIC tools, which have contributed to research on identifying driver abnormalities in different malignancies and other complex disorders.
