The SCSD's Clinical Education Team supports Clinical Educators (CEs) in their role as supervisors in different ways.
- All CEs, when they make a practicum offer, are added to the online training course for CEs on the myCourses platform. There, they can find full workshops (e.g., Intro to Supervision, Giving Effective Feedback, The Power of Inclusion: How do we build safer supervisions?), short training videos (e.g., how to fill out forms, teaching strategies), and other resources.
- Every year, the SCSD’s Coordinators of Clinical Education (CCEs) offer new training sessions on a variety of topics, either in person or on line. You can see pictures of the Annual CE Meeting of December 12 2024 below.
- The CCEs do multiple site visits every year. This allows the Clinical Education Team to get to know the CEs better and to visit the sites’ installations allowing for better future pairing of students and CEs. It also allows the CCE team to provide feedback to Clinical Educators, to answer all questions related to supervision, and to help with the planning of the rest of the practicum.
- CCEs also offer individual support to all CEs when needed, whether they are new to supervision or whether they are working with a struggling learner. CCEs are always available to answer questions, offer guidance, or brainstorm ideas with CEs.
