º«¹úÂãÎè uses a 4.0 GPA scale. If your university uses a different scale, it will be converted during the application evaluation process.
How do I submit my transcript?
- Unofficial, electronic copies of your transcript can be submitted with the other application documents in a single PDF file. Full instructions can be found on the , ref Question 10.
- Your full name must appear on all uploaded documents.
- Transcripts in languages other than English or French must be accompanied by an English or French translation provided by the institution issuing the transcript, or by a certified translator. A copy in the original language is also required; an English or French translation alone is not sufficient.
- If not on the transcript, the grading scale must also be provided (usually found on the reverse).
How much will GPA weigh in the selection of awardees?
- GPA is only one element of an application that will be taken into consideration. We understand that GPA does not represent the strength of a student as whole; hence, equal or greater value will be placed on the information provided by students in the application form.
- If there are extenuating circumstances that have affected your GPA at any point, please feel free to elaborate in your personal responses on the application form.
What makes a strong application/do I need previous research experience?
A strong application is well-written, follows the instructions, and presents a candidate with the maturity, potential, and enthusiasm to engage in high-caliber research. While not required, some previous exposure to research (e.g., in the form of mandatory or elective lab courses, research internships, etc.) is beneficial.
Can I take courses at the same time?
Selected MBRA participants will participate in full-time research (35 hours per week), plus professional and social activities (seminars, workshops, networking, etc.). Thus, additional coursework is not recommended.

We are expecting a cohort of approximately 15-20 people for the summer 2025. There are no quotas for specific schools.
Can I apply if I am... a º«¹úÂãÎè undergraduate student? ...a medical student?
- The goal of the MBRA program is to attract exceptional undergraduate students from across Canada (including other Quebec institutions) to º«¹úÂãÎè. While current º«¹úÂãÎè undergraduates may apply, priority will be given to external/non-º«¹úÂãÎè applicants.
- The MBRA program has been designed to expose undergraduate students to biomedical research and to inspire the pursuit of graduate-level study and/or professional education (e.g., MD/PhD). Current medical students are not eligible.
Are applications reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis?
No, applications will only be reviewed by the selection committee after the application deadline.

Is it necessary that I speak French?
While French is the official language of Québec, it is not necessary to speak French for the MBRA Program. Activities related to the MBRA program will be provided in English. Applications in French and English will be accepted.
