Funding Opportunities

The Department of Pediatrics offersÌýbursary awards for postgraduate training in pediatric subspecialty residency programs andÌýfellowship programs.

Alan Ross Academic Bursary Award

The Alan Ross Academic Bursary AwardÌýisÌýavailable each yearÌýto successful applicants pursuingÌýpostgraduateÌýtraining in a pediatric specialty after having completed threeÌýyears of core training in pediatrics, orÌýequivalent. Successful candidates will intend to pursue an academic career in pediatricsÌýupon completion ofÌýtraining. This award is for physicians who will be training mostly in research and who might have a varying degree of clinical contact.

IMPORTANT NOTE:ÌýThe Alan Ross Academic Bursary Award requires 70% research time throughout aÌýtwo-year training period.ÌýCandidates seeking subspecialty certification will not be eligible for this bursary as the clinical time throughout a programÌýmay not satisfy the minimum requirements of an accrediting body.ÌýFor example, for theÌýAdolescent Medicine program theÌýRoyal College of Surgeons andÌýPhysiciansÌýof Canada requires the equivalent of 15Ìýmonths (out of a total 24 months) of direct clinical experience.
