Establishment of New Core Facilities

Investigators interested in establishing a new Core Facility within the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences (FMHS) must adhere to the University’s Policy on Research Entities and follow the which contain rules for eligibility and instructions for the new Facility’s by-laws.

Applicants are invited to contact the riac.med [at] mcgill.ca (Faculty's Research Office) for initial inquiries. The Research Office will assess and confirm the eligibility of a potential Core Facility with the Office of the Vice-Principal Research and Innovation (VPRI) per the Policy on Research Entities.

Once eligibility is confirmed, applicants must submit a New Core Facility Business Plan and Appendix to the Faculty Research Office, using templates provided by the Faculty Research Office.

Upon reception by the Faculty’s Research Office, these documents will be reviewed by the Faculty’s Committee for the Oversight of Shared Research Resource Facilities (COSRRF), including the new Facility’s alignment with the Faculty’s Strategic Research Plan.

If the new Core Facility's activities are positively assessed by COSRRF, the Facility will be recommended for approval by the Dean of FMHS, before it is officially approved as a º«¹úÂãÎè Core Facility by the VPRI’s Office.

All º«¹úÂãÎè Core Facilities approved by COSRRF must submit an annual report for COSRRF's review.
