The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery is running its annual 5km race on October 5, 2025.Ìý
The Department held its first race in 2019 where $11,000 was raised. As a result of the hard work by the 5km Race fundraiser co-chairs Dr. Richard Payne, Dr. Emily Kay-Rivest, Rosie Talasian and Alexandra Payne, the fundraiser has grown.Ìý
The 2024 fundraiser was a tremendous success and we've raised over $440,000.
200 people were at the event (runners, volunteers, spectators) - Runners of all ages participated - from 12 years old to 60.Ìý
The participants included hospital physicians from various specialties (ENT, Endocrinology, Pathology, Emergency Medicine, Neurosurgery, Anesthesia and Family Medicine) in addition to other health professionals (Speech Language Pathology, Nursing, Respiratory therapy).Ìý
Initiatives like this race is what allows our Department to continue important research funds and to provide the hospital clinic with life-saving equipment and care for our patients.Ìý
In 2025, there will be 6 teams, inspired to raise funds and to take home the coveted trophy.Ìý
