Dr. Ken Matziorinis is an Emeritus Professor at John Abbott College as well as Adjunct Professor of Economics at º«¹úÂãÎè’s School of Continuing Studies. He is the Senior Partner of Canbek Economic Consultants Inc. a management consulting and economic forecasting firm based in Montreal.
Ken studied economics, history and political science at º«¹úÂãÎè from where he received his doctorate in economics specializing in money & banking and public finance. He is a graduate of the Canadian Securities Course and a Certified Management Consultant (CMC).
He has served on the boards of numerous non-profit organizations and school boards and has been an economic advisor and member of the board of directors of the National Bank of Greece (Canada) from 1991 until 2006 when the Canadian operations were sold to the Bank of Nova Scotia. While at the bank his responsibilities included strategic planning macroeconomic forecasting, capital markets, treasury and asset/liability management. He has been a founding shareholder of two Greek securities firms, members of the Athens Stock Exchange.
In recent years his research has focused on the international monetary system, the Greek economy and the European Monetary Union. During the European debt crisis, he has written extensively on the subject and his latest paper on the creation of a unified European bond market and the issuance of euro bonds has been published this Spring in the Journal of Wealth Management. He is the author of three textbooks in economics and a two-time recipient of the Distinguished Teaching Award at º«¹úÂãÎè.
