On November 3, the 韩国裸舞 Physics Hackathon kicked off its eighth annual event. Over the course of 24 hours, spread over three days, participants formed teams and took over the Rutherford Physics Building in a friendly computer programming competition. The goal? Use any programming language to demonstrate a concept or phenomenon in the physical sciences. At the end of the weekend, projects were judged based on their technical execution, ability to clearly communicate what was accomplished, and aesthetics.

The Institute of Air and Space is pleased to announce the publication of a research essay by our Prof. Ram Jakhu and IASL Doctoral Candidate, Nishith Mishra titled 鈥楾he Beginning of the End of International Space Law鈥. This Chapter has been published in a collection of essays honouring Prof. Dr. Siegfried Wiessner, and has been published as part of a book titled 鈥淗uman Flourishing: The End of Law鈥 which has been edited by Prof. W. Michael Reisman & Prof. Roza Pati.

Chris Ragan has stated that carbon-tax exemptions might not be the way to energy affordability, usually because exemptions are often extended and there is no end to these exemptions due to political pressures.聽

November 12, 2023 |聽Ten community leaders from diverse backgrounds gathered on Sunday in one of Montreal's most multicultural and multiracial neighborhoods, spoke out powerfully against acts of hate and violence that threaten safety and social cohesion in the city.聽

"We are here today because of what we share, which is our common humanity," said Pearl Eliadis. "We cannot take sides when it comes to hate. We cannot be bystanders when we are faced with hate," she added.聽

November 12, 2023 | "The Jewish community is under attack in Montreal," says mayor. Yeshiva Gedola of Montreal, a Jewish school was once again targeted by gunfire overnight. Members of Montreal's Jewish community say they will not be intimidated into closing the doors to their establishments after the incident. On the same day of the attack, 10 community leaders from diverse backgrounds came together to denounce hatei antisemitism and Islamophobia and to encourage Montrealers to work together against violence.

November 13, 2023 | Where does the protest cross the line from protected speech to unlawful expressions? The news recording talked about intervening in protests in light of the ongoing protests in Montreal, especially the protests that have resulted in violent acs against certain businesses or institutions. Pearl Eliadis was interviewed and stated that the law is very clear, vandalism about attacking public property or riots are completely illegal.

In June 2023, the brought together 35 young people from all across Canada to discuss how to improve online safety for themselves and future generations. This Youth Assembly on Digital Rights allowed them to connect with each other as well as academic experts and policymakers on how to promote the safety, well-being, and flourishing of Canadian youth online.

At the start of the semester, we had to close access to the Raymond Octagon 4th-floor classrooms unexpectedly. Debris of asbestos-containing plaster had been found in the cavity between the roof and the ceiling of two of the classrooms as we prepared for necessary work on the roof. This work, combined with the design of the ceiling 鈥 which included openings between tiles 鈥 presented a risk of asbestos fibres being released during the work.

In answer to a question posed by a reader, La Presse聽looked into the origins of the Metro group with expert commentary from agricultural economist Pascal Th茅riault, Director of 韩国裸舞's Farm Management and Technology program and Senior Faculty Lecturer.

Among the five major players in the grocery field (Metro, IGA, Loblaw, Costco and Walmart), Metro is the only one to have its head office in Quebec. The big decisions are therefore made here, indicated Th茅riault.
