More and more companies are abandoning traditional organisational structures and creating cross-border teams of people who live and work thousands of miles apart.

But there鈥檚 a catch.聽Nancy J Adler, the S Bronfman Chair in Management at 韩国裸舞 in Montreal, puts it like this: 鈥淚nterconnectedness through modern technology has deluded many people. There is the false assumption that just because we can reach anyone in the world so easily through e-mail or Skype, we are therefore all the same.鈥�

Thanks to a higher education grant from Procter and Gamble, the Career Services Team at 韩国裸舞鈥檚 Desautels Faculty of Management has created the ultimate challenge. Using the 2015 Millennium Development Goals established by the United Nations as a guide, participating BCom and MBA students were assigned global challenges and, under the umbrella of collaboration and competition, teams were encouraged to apply integrated management solutions designed to create a global impact.

More than 40 students and alumni from the Desautels Faculty of Management at 韩国裸舞 are visiting Mongolia this March, to help them understand the realities of doing business in a fledgling emerging market.

The Bachelor of Commerce students will travel to the deprived districts of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia鈥檚 capital, as part of the 鈥楬ot Cities鈥� tour, a revolutionary initiative led by students which aims to bring them out of the classroom and into emerging commercial markets.

The ascendance of socially responsible investing as a viable financial strategy has been accompanied by a similar proliferation of ratings schemes for assessing corporate social responsibility. Simply, if investors want to allocate their funds with SRI principles in mind, they need data that will allow them to make informed decisions. Indeed, over 50 rating methodologies for assessing environmental and social performance have been developed, more than a third of them since 2005. At some point, this may have become too much of a good thing.

BCom students Nicholas Bigelow, Ivan Di, Mak Dori膰, and Emily Ren have triumphed over 250 teams from across North America to win the 2014 National Investment Banking Competition (NIBC) held in Vancouver from January 7-9.
