As in the previous five years, the Institute of Air and Space Law (IASL) of the Faculty of Law at º«¹úÂãÎè intends to appoint one or two Postdoctoral Research Fellow(s) during the 2016-2017 academic year.

To encourage innovation and stimulate interest in research among law students at faculties of Quebec civil law, the Paul-André Crépeau Center for Private and Comparative Law is launching a student poster contest.

The contest is linked to the conference that will mark, on 12 February 2016, the Crépeau Centre’s 40th anniversary, during which poster submissions will be displayed and the  winners announced.

The Faculty of Law of º«¹úÂãÎè is pleased to announce that recent graduates Corina Manole (BCL/LLB'15) and Étienne Cossette-Lefebvre (BCL/LLB'14) finished first and second respectively among the École du Barreau du Québec’s 2014-2015 cohort. Having obtained the two highest scores among 1092 students, they were entered in the Quebec Bar’s Honour Roll of Excellence.

In an election that captured the country’s attention, º«¹úÂãÎè’s Faculty of Law made its voice heard.

Over fifteen Law alumni and eight emerged victorious in their ridings last night, including Professor David Lametti, BCL’89, LLB’89 (LPC; LaSalle–Émard–Verdun, QC).

The Faculty of Law is proud to announce that Professor René Provost has been awarded a research fellowship by the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation. This prestigious prize, which is valued at $225,000, recognizes public intellectuals in the humanities and social sciences who venture beyond the boundaries of their disciplines to find new solutions to complex issues of major importance to Canadians. René Provost is the fourth Trudeau Fellow from º«¹úÂãÎè’s Faculty of Law.

This August, Professor François Crépeau took over the mandate of Director of the Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism (CHRLP) from Professor Colleen Sheppard.

François Crépeau is United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Migrants. He holds the Hans & Tamar Oppenheimer Chair in Public International Law at the Faculty of Law, where he teaches Migration Law, Immigration and Refugee Law, and Constitutional Law. He became a member of the Royal Society of Canada in 2012.

We are pleased to announce that Professor Richard Gold has accepted to serve the Faculty as Associate Dean (Graduate Studies) for a three-year term which started on September 1st, 2015.

A James º«¹úÂãÎè Professor, Richard Gold was the founding Director of the Centre for Intellectual Property Policy. He teaches in the area of intellectual property, international intellectual property, comparative intellectual property, innovation policy and intellectual property management. His research generally focuses on the life sciences.
