With mixed feelings, the Faculty of Law extends its sincerest congratulations to the Hon. Robert Leckey on his appointment to the Superior Court of Quebec, District of Montreal. His appointment, effective immediately, was announced by the Honourable Arif Virani, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, on 27 January 2025. Justice Leckey replaces Justice Christian Immer, BCL’91, LLB’91, who has been elevated to the Court of Appeal of Quebec.

The medal was presented to him by Jonathan Pierre-Étienne, president of the CBA-Quebec, on 5 December, after an introduction by Dean Robert Leckey, Ad E.
The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce that Professor Alicia Hinarejos has been awarded a Jean Monnet Chair in European Union Law. Her three-year appointment began on 1 September 2024.
Granted by the European Commission, these prestigious chairs aim to enhance teaching and research in European Union (EU) studies at higher education institutions worldwide. Professor Hinarejos becomes º«¹úÂãÎè Law’s second Jean Monnet Chair holder, following in the footsteps of the late Professor Armand de Mestral, CM.

The Faculty of Law is delighted to share that Professor Rosalie Jukier was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal. She was presented with the award by the Hon. Marc Gold, PC, Government Representative in the Senate, at a ceremony held on 27 October.
Created to mark the coronation of King Charles III, this medal recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to Canada, a province or community, or attained an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada.
