Svante O. Johansson named Justice of the Supreme Court of Sweden
The Faculty of Law was delighted to learn that the Swedish government has appointed Professor Svante O. Johansson Justice to the Supreme Court of Sweden.
Svante O. Johansson, who was a visitor to the Faculty in 2009-2010, has been a professor in Maritime and Transportation Law at the University of Gothenburg since 2005. He has also been an adjunct professor at the Scandinavian Institute of Maritime Law, University of Oslo since 2007.
Professor Johansson, who will take office on September 1, 2011, has been a legal adviser to the Ministry of Justice of Sweden and was Chairman of different Law Reform Commissions. He served as an associate judge of the Court of Appeal of Sweden from 1992 to 2004.
Professor Johansson has published a number of articles and books in private law, mainly with focus on maritime, transportation and insurance law, including in Professor William Tetley's Marine Cargo Claims, 4 Ed., 2008.
