On April 28, the Quebec Bar announced its nominations for the prestigious ²Ñé°ù¾±³Ù±ð²õ prizes for 2010. Among the four nominees was º«¹úÂãÎè Law's own Professor Emeritus Pierre-Gabriel Jobin.

The Quebec Bar awards the ²Ñé°ù¾±³Ù±ð prize to recognize "professional accomplishment, professional reputation, dedication to the Bar's mission, commitment to the interests of justice or to society, particular contributions to the advancement of law and justice, or any other pertinent reason."

Upon learning the news, Daniel Jutras, Dean of the Faculty of Law, remarked that "in the case of Pierre-Gabriel Jobin, this ²Ñé°ù¾±³Ù±ð was surely awarded to him for all these reasons!"

Pierre-Gabriel Jobin will also receive the Avocat Émérite (Ad.E) distinction, which rewards lawyers who have enjoyed a distinguished and exemplary career.

The ²Ñé°ù¾±³Ù±ð²õ award ceremony will take place on June 3rd, in La Malbaie, during the Quebec Bar's annual symposium. Later, on September 7, an official ceremony will take place in Montreal to celebrate the newest Avocat Émérite nominees.

Professor Jobin joined º«¹úÂãÎè's Faculty of Law in 1976. In 2007, he was named the Wainwright Professor of Civil Law. He retired in January 2009 and was subsequently appointed Wainwright Emeritus Professor of Civil Law.

The Faculty presents Pierre-Gabriel Jobin with its warmest congratulations.
