Recruitment Awards

For students who have a primary supervisor in the Biomedical Engineering Department (Full time and associates members)

Purpose: The Recruitment Awards serve to attract top students wishing to carry out their Master’s or PhD within the department of Biomedical Engineering at º«¹úÂãÎè. The Recruitment Awards are designated as top-ups for all Master’s students and for PhD students benefiting from domestic tuition fees (Quebec/Out-of-province Canadian and Permanent Residents).ÌýFor international PhD students who pay significantly higher tuition and therefore require a larger stipend, the award may be allocated as part of the student’s annual stipend provided by the supervisor.

Overview:ÌýThe Awards are $10,000/yr for three years for students starting in PhD 2, and 4 years for students starting in PhD 1. The Awards are $10,000/yr for two years for Master’s students. This applies for Canadians, Permanent Residents, and International Students on study permits.

Deadline to be nominated by the supervisor: January 15th, 2025 at 11:59PM.

Award guiding principles

The awards function as an incentive for outstanding students to join the BBME program, while ensuring appropriate supervisor financial commitment. The supervisor’s guarantee constitutes the stipend paid to the student which may take the form of a student research assistantship paid from the supervisor’s grants or a student’s personal award (e.g. NSERC Studentship, etc.), or a combination of both. The supervisor’s guarantee must meet the minimum program requirements indicated on the BBME website:
