Dr. Richard Garfinkle joined the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Jewish General Hospital as an attending surgeon in September 2024. He is also appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at º«¹úÂãÎè and as a Principal Investigator at the Lady Davis Institute.
He graduated from the General Surgery residency program at º«¹úÂãÎè in 2023, during which he also completed a Master’s in Epidemiology and PhD in Experimental Surgery (currently known as Surgical & Interventional Sciences). He then completed a fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN). His primary clinical interests include robotic surgery and the management of primary and recurrent rectal cancer. His primary research interests include the outcomes of patients with colorectal cancer and diverticulitis. He is also interested in research and clinical trials methodology.
