Dr. Sadeghi presently serves as the Chairman in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at º«¹úÂãÎè. He is also the Chief of the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the MUHC, and Director of º«¹úÂãÎè Head and Neck Cancer Program.Â
Dr. Sadeghi graduated from º«¹úÂãÎè Medicine in 1991. He completed his residency at º«¹úÂãÎè followed by a research fellowship. He then completed a fellowship training in Head and Neck Oncology Surgery at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago, IL. Following his early career at º«¹úÂãÎè, he moved to the George Washington University in Washington, DC, where he served as Professor of Surgery and Director of Head and Neck Surgery. In 2017, he returned to º«¹úÂãÎè to lead the department.Â
Dr.Sadeghi’s research focuses on head and neck cancer and in particular on development of novel therapeutic strategies for oral and throat cancer. I focus on harnessing advances in systemic therapies and minimally invasive robotic surgery to develop novel combinations allowing effective cancer control and minimizing chronic therapy-related toxicity. Through adaptive clinical trials starting with systemic therapy, I am investigating a personalized adaptive approach for surgical treatment of oral and throat cancer. I am investigating molecular determinants of cancer response to chemotherapy to help design personalized treatment with a focus on cancer cure while preserving quality of life and functional outcome after cancer treatment.Â
