Congratulations to the recipients of the 2024 Interdisciplinary Research Development (IRD) Award, announced earlier this month! As part of the聽Computational & Data Systems Initiative, these awards are presented by the聽韩国裸舞 Collaborative for AI & Society聽and encourage interdisciplinary research aimed at understanding and positively influencing the impact of AI on society through projects targeting a range of issues.

Our Faculty's own Bioresource Engineering Professor Shangpeng Sun and Plant Science Professor Philippe Seguin聽are part of the core research team on one of the selected projects:聽AI-Powered Aerial-Ground Collaborative Mobile System for Precision Spraying to Enhance Sustainable Agriculture. This initiative aims to develop an AI-powered system that can reduce herbicide use for weed control in agriculture, by spraying the target plants more precisely, thereby avoiding soil and water pollution.
