Join student volunteers Alice Curtin and Sabrina Berger from the Physics Matters outreach group as they explore whether some common objects sink or float, and why. Gather a few common objects beforehand — a small rock the size of an egg, an actual egg, paper, pen, salt and some aluminum foil — and fill a bowl of water. You can also gather a pencil, eraser, piece of cork, coin, cooking oil and an unlit candle. Get ready to be surprised about which objects sink or float! Grades 1-4 but open to all
