“Advances in molecular diagnostics and new approaches in drug discovery”
The program will include speakers from Australia, Germany, United Kingdom, United States and Canada.
Day I will focus on molecular diagnostics with an emphasis on metabolomics. Topics:
- The metabolic legacy of SARS-CoV2 (Prof. Elaine Holmes, Australia)
- Metabolomics of cardiometabolic diseases: potential markers of pre-morbidities for Covid-19 (Prof. Marc-Emmanuel Dumas, United Kingdom)
- NMR Based Tools for Clinical and Translational Research (Dr. Manfred Spraul, Bruker, Germany)
- Metabolomics: from raw LC-MS spectra to biological insights (Prof. Jianguo (Jeff) Xia, , Canada)
Day II will focus on new approaches in drug discovery and the FDA-approved Covid-19 drug remdesivir. Topics:
- Early drug discovery in industry and drugging the cancer genome (Dr. Thomas Hudson, Vice-President Abbvie USA & Prof. Vincent Mooser, Canada Excellence Research Chair in Genomic Medicine, , Canada)
- Design of Proteolysis Targeting Chimera – PROTACs (Prof. Craig Crews, Yale University, USA)
- Breakthrough work on the Covid-19 remdesivir drug (Prof. Matthias Götte, University of Alberta, Canada)
- Selected topics for trainee presentations.
