MIF Lunch & Learn 3: Building Teams, Creating Culture
One of the most crucial - but often ignored - parts of startup/spinoff success is how to build a team and foster a workplace culture. This can be especially challenging for company founders, who may not be used to managing employees. Nevertheless, a positive workplace culture has a huge impact on a company's performance and is often something examined by investors. So how exactly does one go about creating a team and a workplace culture that works? And how do you know when your own company's culture needs attention?
This one-hour panel-style event will take place on Thursday May 5th, from 12pm - 1pm.
To take us through these and other questions, we have two panellists for this event: Victor Lanzo and Mark Weber.
Victor Lanzo is the Senior Vice President of Operations for Reveal Surgical, a medical device firm based in Montreal. He has decades of leadership experience in the medical technology industry in a variety of companies, ranging from small-scale startups to publicly-held companies. He is a strong believer in the role workplace culture has in company performance, and how it can be developed across an organization. He graduated from º«¹úÂãÎè with degrees in Engineering and Science.
Mark Weber is the Director of the Office of Innovation and Partnerships, but prior to joining º«¹úÂãÎè, he spent 15 years in the corporate world. He has led diverse teams of all sizes in a variety of industries and regions, experience which has given him a unique perspective on what constitutes a good team and how to manage one. He is also a graduate of º«¹úÂãÎè, with a PhD in Chemical Engineering.
