Claudia Mitchell honoured by the World Cultural Council

This past November, Distinguished James º«¹úÂãÎè Professor in the Department of Integrated Studies, Claudia Mitchell, was awarded the 2022 José Vasconcelos World Award of Education. Dr. Mitchell was present for the 37th World Cultural Council (WCC) Award to receive this honour at Universidade de Coimbra, Portugal, and to give her acceptance speech.

º«¹úÂãÎè’s Faculty of Education, Philip Cutler, BEd’13, created the company Paper, which he co-founded with Roberto Cipriani, BSc’08. It quickly became one of the largest online tutoring services in the U.S., hired by public school districts in over 30 states, as well as four provinces in Canada, to assist their students (mostly middle school and high school).

Applied Theatre Students Perform "Explain Quebec; Quebec Explain!"

On Friday May 13, 2022, Applied Theatre students from The Faculty of Education and Nursing put on a show entitled "Explain Quebec; Quebec Explain!" for the public, outside of the Redpath Museum, led by their Professor, Dr. Mindy R. Carter.

Exploring topics such as discrimination and systemic racism, the gathered audience had the opportunity to dialogue about these issues and to then consider, through theatre, possibly pathways for change.
