Congratulations to KPE'sÌýAlexandra Potvin-Desrochers, for receiving aÌýHealthy Brains for Healthy Lives (HBHL) Doctoral Fellowship!
Healthy Brains, Healthy Lives (HBHL)Ìýis a high-profile, high-priority multidisciplinary and cross-sectoral initiative located at º«¹úÂãÎè. HBHL builds on º«¹úÂãÎè’s scientific excellence and global leadership in areas of neuroscience that hold the greatest promise for delivering implementable, clinically effective outcomes in brain and mental health.
Alexandra’s project title is: “Neural Mechanisms of Freezing of Gait in Parkinson’s diseaseâ€
Alexandra is a PhD candidate interested in better understanding and improving motor control of clinical populations. She studies locomotion impairments in individuals with Parkinson’s disease, and more specifically, those who experience a symptom called freezing of gait. Her research uses brain imaging to describe patients’ brain connectivity, but also attempts to improve their locomotion using non-invasive brain stimulation.
Alexandra is currently withÌýDr. Caroline Paquette'sÌýHuman Brain Control of Locomotion Lab (HBCL).
