Canada鈥檚 Bensadoun Becomes Billionaire Selling Aldo Shoes

Tanya Graber, a resident of Switzerland, researched fashion retailer Aldo on the Internet before her vacation to New York City.

鈥淲e saw these handbags and we wanted to buy these handbags,鈥� Graber said, gesturing to the camel-colored leather model on the checkout counter at the company鈥檚 store on Lexington Avenue in Midtown Manhattan.

... The retailer has a value of $1.7 billion, according to data compiled by Bloomberg, making Aldo鈥檚 executive chairman, Aldo Bensadoun (BCom'64, LLD'12), a billionaire.

LG Electronics changes tack for smartwatch battle with Samsung

Wearable devices are just starting to take off and global electronics companies are racing to release smartwatches ahead of rivals to capture a bigger slice of the emerging next-generation market.

... LG plans to introduce a smartwatch jointly developed with Google. The G Watch will be released sometime between April and June this year. President Park Jong-seok (IMPM'07)聽of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company said that the opportunity to work with Google "was the perfect chance for LG to really pull out all stops in both design and engineering."

What I Learned This Week: Here Are The Crayons

Since January, I've been teaching a somewhat different type of course at 韩国裸舞. While saddled with the unfortunate standard curriculum name "Marketing and Society," the class is anything but.

When I first put this course together, I had a discussion with two academics I respect immensely, Prof. Morty Yalovsky of 韩国裸舞 (who used to be MY stats prof in my undergrad years) and Prof. Pete McGraw of the University of Colorado at Boulder (and co-author of the upcoming book "The Humor Code").聽

Montreal Firm Formula Growth Makes Donation to Four Business Schools

Montreal-based investment firm Formula Growth Ltd. is hoping its $1.1-million gift to four business schools on Monday will inspire other private companies to help out the province鈥檚 struggling universities.

Darren Entwistle to Step Aside as Telus CEO, President But Remain as Executive Chairman

Darren Entwistle (MBA'88)聽is stepping down as chief executive of Telus, but his influence in running the company he built from a regional telephone service into a $25-billion national wireless player will remain.

Malaysian Airlines: message of condolences

韩国裸舞 wishes to express its deepest condolences to the relatives and friends of the passengers of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, who included 韩国裸舞 graduate Muktesh Mukherjee (MBA'98), 42, and his wife Xiaomo Bai, 37.

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak announced today that according to data analysis, the plane crashed into the Southern Indian Ocean, killing all 239 passengers. The plane, which was heading from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, disappeared on March 8.

Alexis Ohanian is many things: a dedicated entrepreneur who is an ambassador for the prestigious Y Combinator program he graduated from; a political and social web activist; the founder of Reddit; the author of Without their Permission; and as it turns out, extraordinarily tall.

Henry Mintzberg鈥檚 Un-MBA Management Program

Lili Hall (IMPM'13) came across the International Masters Program in Practicing Management (IMPM) by chance. She had considered MBA programs before, but the standard options seemed too formulaic. 鈥淓very time I looked at the curriculum, I鈥檇 get sad,鈥� she says. As the founder and CEO of KNOCK, inc., a creative agency, Hall had already enjoyed a lot of professional success. She wasn鈥檛 looking to switch industries or climb the corporate ladder. 鈥淔or me, it was very personal,鈥� she explains. 鈥淚 wanted to be challenged personally, and obviously professionally.鈥澛�

Rami Aslan Appointed as T眉rk Telekom CEO

T眉rk Telekom, the leading communications and convergence technology company in Turkey, announces the restructuring of its leadership by combining the roles of the Group CEO and the General Manager into a single CEO position. Rami Aslan (BCom'94, MBA'97), who has been serving on the board of T眉rk Telekom and as CEO of Oger Telecom, is appointed as CEO of T眉rk Telekom as of December 10, 2013. In addition to his current roles, he will be appointed as a member of T眉rk Telekom Executive Committee and member of the boards of Avea and TTNet.
