Abstract: Climate change has resulted in an increase in the global mean temperature. In recent decades, Canada has seen a rise in the frequency, duration, and intensity of heat waves. In order to provide patient care and health care delivery with broader strategies for mitigating and adapting to rising temperatures, a comprehensive understanding of the wide range of health impacts of extreme heat exposure is crucial.

Come join us in this hands-on crafty workshop where you will brainstorm an IDP vision statement and use collage to make a vision board. Workshop goers will have the opportunity to digitally or physically collage to make a vision board to stay on track with their goals!
How does race and racism impact learning spaces? What is our role as educators in shaping an anti-racist learning environment? This interactive workshop will explore how understanding racism and integrating an anti-racist practice can shift the culture of a classroom or institution. By attending this workshop, instructors will be able to:

Psychosocial suffering often manifests as bodily pain and can be overlooked in clinical practice when cultural expressions of distress are missed. Understanding how expert family physicians recognize and manage psychosocial distress can enhance the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health challenges. Findings suggest that the key to contextualizing these vague presentations lies in unraveling the patient’s narrative and finding shared humanity.
