Canada and Germany produce a combined 6.3 million tons of ammonia annually. Used primarily in the fertilizer, textile, and pharmaceutical industries, conventional ammonia production is energy-intensive and accounts for up to two per cent of primary energy demand and greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. Partners agree to share resources, establish steering committee for closer collaboration

On April 20, 2018, Canadian, Chinese and Cuban neuroscience institutes strengthened an existing partnership with the signing of a memorandum of understanding in Chengdu, China.
