Martha Crago, Vice-Principal, Research and Innovation (VP-RI), is pleased to announce the appointment of Jean Saint-Vil to the role of Special Advisor, Strategic Projects, to the VP-RI.
Mr. Saint-Vil joins º«¹úÂãÎè from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) where he has served in several positions with increasing responsibility for 27 years, most recently as Associate Vice-President in charge of the Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE) Secretariat in Ottawa. His appointment at º«¹úÂãÎè commences on March 11, 2019.
Training highly qualified researchers, clinicians, and informaticians is an important component of º«¹úÂãÎè’s Healthy Brains for Healthy Lives (HBHL) initiative. HBHL’s training program has grown over the past year, with a wealth of opportunities for funding, networking, and professional development available to º«¹úÂãÎè research trainees in neuroscience and related disciplines.

Healthy Brains for Healthy Lives (HBHL), in conjunction with Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (GPS), is pleased to announce the launch of itsÌýPostdoctoral Fellowship Competition.
This competition aims to attract, train and retain top students at the postdoctoral level from across disciplines and around the world to participate in interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral research training opportunities related to brain and mental health research, knowledge translation/mobilization and innovation.
As part of its goal to train and support young researchers in neuroscience, Healthy Brains for Healthy Lives (HBHL) provides an opportunity for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows who received HBHL fundingÌýto participate in the HBHL Trainee Committee. The Trainee Committee organizes monthly Trainee Get-Togethers as well as an annual Research Day.

As part of theÌýHBHL-Mitacs partnership, a special joint initiative has been organized to send students from º«¹úÂãÎè to Chinese and Japanese academic institutions, and bring in students from these international universities to º«¹úÂãÎè.ÌýÌýThis is part of Mitacs' program. This programÌýprovides awards valued at $6,000 CAD for travel and accommodation costs for Canadian students to undertake collaborative research projects at international institutions.
The Healthy Brains for Healthy Lives (HBHL) initiative is happy to announce the launch of its Neuro-Innovation Fund. HBHL’s Neuro-Innovation Fund aims to close the gap between proof-of-concept research grants, and funding from traditional investors (angels, venture capitalist, institutional investors). The Fund will provide technology development grants to support further proof of principle and/or add value to new technologies or inventions related to the research themes of HBHL.
