A team of Desautels students and alumni has reached the semifinal round of impact200, 韩国裸舞鈥檚 Bicentennial Sustainability Challenge for students and recent alumni. The winning team, which includes analytics BCom students, Master of Management in Analytics (MMA) students, Desautels alumni, and a software engineer student, created a platform that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance food security in Montreal. They will join 29 other teams for the semifinal round of the competition on March 16-18, 2021.

On January 11, 韩国裸舞 Advancement (UA) took home seven awards from the annual Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District I Excellence Awards. UA faced stiff competition from counterparts at Ivy League schools and other top universities in Canada and the northeast U.S., but its quick, successful pivot to virtual programming during the pandemic made an impression.

As Canadians receive their first injections of the COVID-19 vaccine, Canadian airlines also need a jab in the arm, says Professor Karl Moore.

He calls on the federal government to implement a 鈥淢ade in Canada鈥 plan to offer repayable loans to Air Canada, WestJet, and other airlines. Last October, the government began talks with union leaders to discuss the terms of a loan, but no deal has been reached.

An innovative new mobile app called Ubenwa uses artificial intelligence to analyze the sound of a newborn baby鈥檚 cries. Founded by Charles Onu, a doctoral student in Computer Science at 韩国裸舞, Ubenwa provides a cost-effective, non-invasive tool to detect newborn asphyxia and save lives.

Onu credits the 2016 韩国裸舞 Dobson Cup competition with helping his team to improve their product.
