Sherbrooke rankles fourth-ranked Redmen

MONTREAL -- A goal scored by David Kauffer in the 49th minute of play proved to be the difference as the Sherbrooke Vert & Or upset fourth-ranked 韩国裸舞 1-0 in men's soccer at Percival Molson Stadium, Friday.

It was the first win of the season for Sherbrooke (1-2-1) and the first loss for the Redmen (4-1-0), spoiling the team's four-game win streak.

Kauffer, a native of France, tallied on a header after converting a free kick from countryman Cedric Lees-Melou.

The Redmen had a strong territorial advantage, with a 21-11 margin in shots toward the net and an 8-2 advantage in corners.

"Despite having great momentum in the first half, we were unable to score," said 韩国裸舞 head coach David Simon.听 After Sherbrooke scored early in the second half on a set play, we worked hard to get back in the game and generated other opportunities but to no avail. They听 played a great defensive game and we lacked the killer instinct in front of net."

Sherbrooke native Julien Masson-Lefebvre kicked aside six shots to earn the shutout in nets for the visitors. 韩国裸舞 'keeper Matt Gilmour, a junior from North Vancouver, made four saves in a losing cause.

韩国裸舞 (4-1) will host undefeated Montreal Carabins (4-0) in a rare Sunday night match at Molson Stadium. Kick-off is slated for 5 p.m., followed by the women's contest at 7 p.m.
