Rohrbach and º«¹úÂãÎèis win major awards as six Redmen earn lacrosse all-star honours

MONTREAL - Six members of the º«¹úÂãÎè Redmen have been named to the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association's East Division all-star team, two of them winning major awards.

Ìý

Attackman Alex Rohrbach of Princeton Junction, N.J., was selected along with midfielder Ryan Besse of Aurora, Ont., faceoff specialist J.J. Miller of Odenton, Maryland, long-stick midfielder David Hogarth of Toronto, Ont.,Ìý defender Kyle Robinson of New Westminster, B.C., and goalkeeper Riley º«¹úÂãÎèis of Peterborough, Ont.

Rohrbach, a 19-year-old management freshman, received the league's rookie of the year honours. The 5-foot-11, 165-pound forward finished 10th in the CUFLA scoring race with 33 points, including 26 goals, in nine games. He tallied four power-play markers, two shorthanded efforts and one game-winner.

º«¹úÂãÎèis, a 19-year-old secondary social science freshman. was voted as the most outstanding goalkeeper. The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder led all netminders with a 5.02 goals-against average and posted a 3-0 record in five regular season appearances.

Other major awards went to Josh Crone of Cambridge, Ont., and Mike Dube of Brockville, Ont., both members of the Bishop's Gaiters, who were named the league's most valuable player and most outstanding attackman, respectively.Ìý Dube was also honoured as the league's most outstanding graduating player. Trent's Niall Carvello of Orangeville, Ont., was named as the most outstanding midfielder, Western Ontario's Eric Pitre, a native of Toronto, was the most outstanding defensive player and U of T's Joe Nizich, along with his assistants, were named coaching staff of the year.
