Oles named RSEQ female athlete of the week

MONTREAL - Leslie Oles, a member of the º«¹úÂãÎè women's hockey team, has been named female athlete of the week by the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec, for the period ending Nov. 20, 2011.

Jean-Sébastien Breton, a hockey player with the UQTR Patriotes, won the nomination on the men's side.

Oles, a 5-foot-3 forward from Beaconsfield, Que., scored five goals and assisted on two others as º«¹úÂãÎè swept a pair of road games over Montreal and Ottawa last weekend. The physical education sophomore celebrated her 21st birthday with a hat-trick and one assist in a 10-1 victory over the Carabins last Friday. She added two more goals and set up another in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Gee-Gees. The seven-point performance moved Oles into first place in the league scoring race with a 10-4-14 record in nine games. She attended Kuper Academy before enrolling at º«¹úÂãÎè in 2010.

Oles is the fifth º«¹úÂãÎè nomination to win the RSEQ weekly nomination this season. Previous winners include swimmer Steven Bielby (TWICE: Oct. 25 and Nov. 15), Gideon Balloch (rugby, Nov. 8), Brianna Miller (rugby, Sept. 12).
