MONTREAL – Ken Morin, captain of the men’s varsity hockey team at º«¹úÂãÎè, has won a Gretta Chambers student leadership award. The honour is presented by the º«¹úÂãÎè Alumni Association to a º«¹úÂãÎè student who has demonstrated leadership qualities while contributing to the advancement of alumni activities in a volunteer capacity

Morin, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound defenceman, was a solidifying influence on a team replete with 14 rookies as the Redmen rebounded from an 0-4-1 start and finished second in the OUA Far East division with an 18-8-2 record and captured the OUA Eastern Conference title.

He had a stellar campaign, capped by winning the Bobby Bell memorial trophy as the team’s most valuable player and then garnered the Richard Pound trophy, presented to a graduating male athlete for proficiency and leadership in athletics.

A 24-year-old industrial relations senior who logged 30-40 minutes of ice time on a regular basis, Morin led all Redmen rearguards with 16 points, including four goals, in 44 games overall. Although he still has another year of eligibility remaining, Morin graduates with a 13-56-69 record in 159 career contests.
