º«¹úÂãÎè's Lukca signs pact with Argos

TORONTO - Anthony Lucka, an all-conference defensive back with the º«¹úÂãÎè Redmen, has signed a two-year contract as a long-snapper with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League.

Lukca (pronounced luke-ah) is a 24-year-old native of St. Laurent, Que., who played five seasons with the Redmen, from 2005 to 2009.

The 5-foot-9, 191-pound physical education senior was credited with 209 total tackles, four knockdowns and seven interceptions in 35 career contests. Lukca first learned his long-snapping trade from former Redmen and Argonaut J.P. Darche, who was his next-door neighbor while growing up and played nine seasons as a long-snapper in the National Football League with Seattle and Kansas City.

Lukca played his high school ball at College Notre-Dame and was named captain of the team in 2002. He moved on to Choate Rosemary Hall, a prep school in Wallingford, Conn., where he was again named captain of the varsity team.
In 2005 he started at º«¹úÂãÎè and the next season he was named º«¹úÂãÎè's most improved player and led the team in interceptions. By the time his senior season rolled around he was named as one of the co-captains.
