º«¹úÂãÎè swimmer Bielby picked as RSEQ athlete of the week

MONTREAL -- Steven Bielby of the º«¹úÂãÎè University swim team has been named male athlete of the week the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec, for the period ending Nov. 13, 2011.

Éva Thouvenot-Hébert, a soccer player with the Montreal Carabins, won the nomination on the women's side.

A native of Pte. Claire, Que., who measures 5-foot-8 and 155 pounds, Bielby earned four gold medals and was named swimmer of the meet for the third time this season, as º«¹úÂãÎè finished second in the third Quebec Cup swim meet of the campaign at the University's Memorial Pool, Sunday.

The 22-year-old electrical engineering senior racked up a meet-high 644 points on the FINA scale. He won the 200-metre freestyle (1:52.57), the 400 individual medley (4:26.73) and the 100 butterfly (56.24). He also contributed to a win in the 4x100 freestyle relay (3:28.85). Bielby is a product of John Abbott College.
