The Montreal Chest Institute opened its doors
officially on October 21, 1909 as a dispensary for treatment of
tuberculosis with emphasis on early detection, home care and
education. The MCI quickly became known as one of Canada’s leading
hospitals for research and treatment of respiratory diseases.
