Graduate Teaching Workshop

Would you like to improve your teaching skills, use your time as a TA more efficiently, and learn how to be more effective in front of a class? Do you want to learn teaching techniques geared specifically for science graduate students? Here’s your chance! Registration is now open for the Winter 2012 Graduate Teaching Workshop from the Tomlinson Project in University-Level Science Education (T-Pulse)!
This two-day workshop offers participants the opportunity to reflect upon their own approaches towards teaching, to develop skills for demonstrating in laboratories & discussion sections, and to provide a foundation for future academic positions.
We will provide strategies for ensuring that there is a close relationship between teaching & learning and explore learner-centered approaches to teaching that can be easily used in the lab or classroom.
This workshop is designed for Faculty of Science, Engineering, and Medicine graduate students, especially those who are TA-ing or considering careers in academia.
There are two sections:
Section 17: Monday, January 9th and Wednesday, January 11th
Section 18: Tuesday, January 10th and Thursday, January 12th
The workshop runs from 9:00am - 3:00pm each day. A free lunch is provided each day, and everyone who attends both full days will receive a certificate. The certificate is a useful addition to your teaching portfolio.
Application Deadline: Monday, December 12th, 2011
