Among many other publications, Professor Hyland is the author of Gifts: A Study in Comparative Law (Oxford: OUP, 2009), a book that has attracted a great deal of scholarly attention. In the final chapter of his book, Professor Hyland raises the workshop's question, "Is the Gift a Contract?".
Part of the Civil Law Workshop series, whose theme this year is "Law鈥檚 intraduisibles", which are those elements or aspects that lie beyond translation.
