Chancellor Day Hall 3644 rue Peel, Montreal, QC, H3A 1W9, CA

The Quebec Research Centre of Private & Comparative Law warmly invites you to the fourth lecture of the 2011 edition of its Summer Seminar. The lecture, titled « The Encyclopedic Dictionary of the Untranslatable Vocabulary of Transsystemic Legal Education », will be given by James º«¹úÂãÎè Professor of Law and QRCPCL director, Lionel Smith. The whole º«¹úÂãÎè Law community is invited to take part in the discussion, so please share this invitation with graduate students and research assistants. The main purpose of this seminar series is to offer a forum to younger scholars to present their ideas and to engage with those of others in an informal setting.

Cold drinks and cookies will be served.

Abstract: After over a decade of transsystemic teaching, has the transsystemic approach evolved from a way of teaching law to a way of thinking about law? And if so, is the Faculty of Law ready to embark on a project that aims to explore and disseminate this new epistemology? When law is conceived transsystemically, what do we understand by the idea of "trust"? Or "reliance"? Or "good faith"?

The QRCPCL is launching a collectively authored volume which aims to illustrate some of the lessons of the last decade, as experienced by those who have participated in the enterprise. This seminar will touch on the goals of the project, partly by way of the discussion of a draft entry on "unjust enrichment".
