Andrew Large: Four Decades of Research: The Ups and Downs.

The first speaker in SIS' Fall 2009 Speaker Series is Andrew Large,
Professor, CN-Pratt-Grinstad Chair in Information Studies, and
Associate Dean, Research and Graduate Studies, Faculty of
Education. Prof. Large’s research focuses on information seeking
behaviour and human-computer interaction, particularly for
children. His current SSHRC funded research (co-investigator J.
Beheshti) is: Visualization Models of a Hierarchical Taxonomy in
Children’s Web Portals.
Title of Talk: Four Decades of Research: The Ups and Downs.
(Starting from his own Ph.D. research, Prof. Large will talk about
15 research events that occurred over the course of his research
career.)

The purpose of the SIS' Speaker Series is to give Ph.D. and masters
students in the School of Information Studies a behind-the-scenes
glimpse at research and the research process. There are four
speakers in the Fall term and another four speakers in the Winter
2010 term. Students and faculty from the Faculty of Education as
well as the wider º«¹úÂãÎè community are invited to attend.
